1. Drilling in connection with the installation of waterproofing concrete for the construction of an office/apartment building.
2. Installation of driven sheet piling.
3. Predrilling for jet-grouting with Ø116 mm drill bit.
4. Sealing with jet grout between sheet piling and solid rock.
5. Drilling for curtain grouting through jet pillar and rock.
6. Pre-drilling for stud installation; drilling with Ø115 mm drill bit.
7. Drilling of RD pipe Ø140 as anchorage at the bottom of the sheet pile.
– Number of holes: ~1 for curtain, 190 for stud Number of piles: 95
– Depth/direction: 0.5-12 m in rock (1.6-39 ft.)/vertically downwards
– Drilling range/total meters: 2,100 m (6,900 ft.)
– Why was water-powered drilling used?

To protect the sensitive jet columns, drilling with compressed air could not be used. Water-powered drilling was then the most gentle and efficient method.

– Hammer model/size: WAI 35i and WAI 40i
– Drill bit/driving system: 100 and 115 mm respectively
– Pump: GDS 490 Diesel Pump, 490 lit/min @ 200 bar
– Water source: municipal water mains
– Drill rig: ABI with telescopic mast
– Geological formation:
– Through pillars (created by jet-grouting) and solid rock.
