GDS supplies Züblin with an electric pump, 5’’ WAI-hammer and a fast solution on customized reamer bit design from Drill King for the Boliden-Garpenberg project

For the drilling of a dozen service and media holes reaming in several steps was made; from Ø76 mm (3’’) to 324 mm (12 ¾’’). Due to high requirements on working environment below surface and safety issues when drilling with air, the water-propelled drilling technology was chosen. The reamer bit solution from GDS/Drill King was chosen due to very short delivery time, high quality and possibility to customize reamer bit design.

In addition, Züblin rented an electric pump from GDS, a Kamat K1300-3G, including a frequency converter drive and thanks to this it was possible to adjust pump output to the available grid power supply of only 120 A.

Despite severe geological conditions, the holes were possible to produce keeping the given time plan…
