Project Case The Light Rail Line - Drilling for ground stabilization

In 2015, Foundation Drilling Sweden was appointed to drill 160 casing advancing holes, installing RD Ø220 drilled steel casing piles, for ground stabilization of the Stockholm Light Rail Line. The task was to drill while influencing the surrounding and ground with a minimum of vibrations. DrillKing’s water-propelled drilling hammer WAI 60i, delivered by GDS, was here used since drilling with air, close to the surrounding sensible buildings and cars, would have been too risky damaging them. As well, GDS also rented out the GDS 490 Diesel Pump (490 lit/min @ 200 bar) for this project. Thanks to the water-propelled drilling solution, the project was realized without unnecessary costs for covering the surrounding house façades and without risking surrounding cars in car park to be affected.
