Use of directional drilling equipment at Copenhagen’s metro project

Due to difficulties with controlled artificial freezing of the foundation ground in regards to a metro project in Copenhagen, we were asked to help with the required directional drilling and control engineering on location. In collaboration with the construction site (a big thanks goes to the site management and foremen of the Züblin Spezialtiefbau Company), we were able to find a functional solution within a short period of time that could be implemented immediately. The drilling was carried out using a jet cutter head with a roller cone bit (121mm diameter) and the PARATRACK II measuring system. In total, 23 drill holes were drilled over a total length of 600m. The work took place in intermediate shafts under extreme spatial conditions, which posed a great challenge for the workers and equipment alike. Together with our partners, we were able to supply all drilling equipment, the measuring and control technology, as well as the required experts within three days at the location of the construction site. All drilling was carried out to the utter satisfaction of the client with the stipulated precision and drilling radii.

We would like to welcome Andreas Schibbye at GDS!

We are happy to announce that Andreas will be working as a sales representative for GDS!

Andreas will be working in sales and on solutions for problems, supporting our customers with their foundation and drilling projects. The majority of his time will be spent out “in the field” where the work takes place and the help is needed.

Andreas is well-known in the industry. He has many years’ experience and a solid knowledge in the field of borehole foundations. Together with GDS’s suppliers and Andreas’s placement, we will be able to expand our range of services to our customers.

Quotation from Andreas: “I have always been a practical person and enjoy working with people. After completing my studies in system sciences at the University of Stockholm, and working at Microsoft for 10 years, I completely switched the direction of my career and went into the drilling industry. For 12 years now, I have been working for different companies in this field. Even after this time, I continue to feel good when I work together and make progress with a new client to improve and enhance their project. I value approachability, both in regards to myself and the ability to deliver products to discerning clients. I hope that I will be able to apply my knowledge to continue to improve the services offered by GDS for all customers. I see this as a challenge, and look forward to taking it on together with the other members of the GDS team for both previous and new clients.”

Andreas is already working in his new position. All contact information for Andreas is available on the homepage under "contact".

TDS at “Trenchless ENGINEERING 2014”

“Trenchless ENGINEERING 2014 - the 12th International Conference, Exhibition and Technology Show” took place in Cracow, Poland from 11-12 June 2014. The trade show focussed on controlled drilling for infrastructure and tunnel projects, as well as for water supply and sewage disposal. Mr Alexander Lösch from our TDS-Tunnel Drilling Solutions department had a joint stand with our partner, Mr Grzegorz Wojdylo from ETP Euro-Tech Plus, where several technical innovations, such as a drill bit for overburden drilling, were introduced. Since a very large percentage of Polish drilling companies were represented at this trade show, we were able to present our range of products and drilling solutions during many interesting conversations. Furthermore, many interesting projects from the past were presented at the conference, which was taking place at the same time, providing a good overview of the controlled drilling market in Poland. Overall, it was an extremely informative trade show for our ETP and TDS departments, and great contacts were made to the local Polish drilling companies.

NEW!!! Delmag RH24 at the rental park in Hainichen

We have added an additional drilling rig to our rental park: the RH24 by Delmag. The rotary table has a capacity of 24t of torque and is thereby a versatile drivetrain in special foundation engineering. The rig’s first application will be on a construction site in Thuringia. Technical information pertaining to the machine is available on the datasheet below. We would be happy to assist you should you have further questions regarding the drilling rig or rental costs.

GDS joins SPD and ABI at Grundläggningsdagen 2014

On 13 March, GDS joined the companies SPD and ABI to participate at Grundläggningsdagen, a renowned trade fair which took place in Stockholm, Sweden. This fair is especially important for the Scandinavian Market and focuses exclusively on foundation engineering and tunnelling technology.

On this occasion, GDS, SPD (short for “Scandinavian Pile Driving”) and ABI (a company specialized on heavy-duty rotary drilling rigs, anchor drilling equipment, etc.) announced their cooperation. Particular attention will be paid to sales, service and technical support of AN120 and AN150, the anchor drill rigs from Interoc. These rigs will be made available by the new joint company as purchase or rental options in Scandinavia. If you have further questions on anchor drill rigs, Robert Hansson (GDS) or Alexander Lösch (TDS) will be glad to provide further information.
